Allama Muhammad Iqbal was born into a middle-class family on 9 November, 1877, at Sialkot, in the Punjab region. His mother, Ashiq Bibi, was a very devoted and spiritually-minded woman while his father was a tailor by profession, whose name was Noor Muhammad Iqbal. The importance the family gave to education had much impact on Iqbal. He completed early education in Sialkot and moved to Europe.
He was at Cambridge for his undergraduate studies, London for his law studies, and Munich for his philosophical doctorate. He was exposed to both Western philosophy and the rich spiritual and intellectual legacy of Islam during his sojourn in Europe, which later influenced his works and philosophical perspective.
Death
On April 21, 1938, Allama Iqbal died at the age of 60. Though his death was a blow to society, no doubt, yet he continues to influence politics, literature, and philosophy.
