Netflix’s Family Pack (2024)
In the entertaining adventure film “Family Pack,” a family inadvertently travels across time while attempting to play the card game Werewolves. Each player receives a card with a role allocated to them in this role-playing game. Since he used to play this game as a kid, Jerome, the father, wants to utilize it to pull his family together. But Gilbert, his father, has memory problems, possibly Alzheimer’s, and he can’t even recall Jerome’s name or the game’s rules. Jerome still believes his family will accompany him despite this.
Everyone receives a card from Jerome. He takes on the character of “seer,” Gilbert plays the part of “hunter,” Jerome’s older daughter Clara plays the part of “little girl,” and the son Theo plays the part of “thief.” However, because the family becomes preoccupied before the game begins, we cannot witness Jerome’s wife Marie and youngest daughter Louise (Loulou) ‘s roles. Louise laments her hunger, Gilbert naps, and Clara departs for a live webcast. This already ruins the game.

Frustrated, Jerome locks the game. However, an odd event occurs when he rotates the werewolf piece in the middle of the game. Everyone is compelled to seek shelter as the ground trembles like an earthquake. After that, things take an unexpected turn.
What Occurs Following the Earth Quake-like Event?
Within Gilbert’s home, the family takes refuge in a bunker. They find out that Clara is gone when they emerge. The mother, Marie, thinks they can find answers in the next town, where a festival is taking place, so she suggests they go there. When they go outside, though, they notice that everything appears different. This ought to have been their first indication that anything odd had occurred. Nevertheless, they go to the event in the hopes of learning more.
They observe that everyone is dressed in 15th-century attire as they go at the event. They come to the realization that they have time-traveled to 1497 and are now trapped in the Werewolf game. When the family returns home after being terrified by a genuine execution, they discover that Clara has turned invisible! This indicates that the abilities they acquired from the game have materialized.

What Are the Family Members’ Abilities in 1497?
They return to the home of one of Gilbert’s ancestors, who is facing a witch trial and is set to be executed by burning at the stake. The knights believe the family is also a collection of witches and magicians because of this link. Jerome, however, acts fast and informs the knights that they are a troupe of itinerant entertainers known as “The Minstrettes.” He even convinces the sheriff that they are merely musicians by impressing them with a lute he discovers in the residence.
It’s interesting to note that after time traveling, Gilbert, who had memory problems in the present, can recall everything with clarity. Perhaps it’s because he’s acting as a “hunter,” or perhaps the game’s charm is what brings out his actual Self.
Werewolves prowl the settlement at night, so the residents are sent home when night falls. At this point, the family learns that the youngest daughter, Loulou, has become a werewolf! Gilbert restrains her and stops her from hurting anyone by using his hunter abilities. Clara stays invisible, Theo discovers he can shapeshift by stealing stuff, and Jerome can hear people’s thoughts all at once.
What Do the Family Members’ Powers Mean?
The family members’ abilities reflect their challenges and desires:
In 1497, Gilbert transforms into a formidable hunter since he feels weak in his current life. In a world dominated by social media, Clara physically becomes invisible out of fear of being overlooked. In the process of discovering his true self, Theo acquires the ability to change his shape, which reflects this journey. Jerome, who finds it difficult to comprehend his family, gains the capacity to read minds. Loulou turns into a werewolf because she wants attention. Additionally, it is disclosed that Theo is Marie’s son and Clara is Jerome’s daughter from a prior marriage. Loulou was born to Jerome and Marie together. Their interactions are made more difficult by these familial ties.

How Can They Return to the Present?
Gilbert suddenly recalls a crucial game rule: they can go back to the present if they eliminate every werewolf. This is a problem because Loulou is one of the four werewolf cards. How are they going to get home safely?
An intruder named Piero, an Italian man, interrupts their plot after overhearing their discussion about being from the future. Piero appears to be amiable, and the family permits him to make Clara a new skin out of a substance that resembles rubber in order to help her regain her vision. Later in the movie, though, Piero’s true identity is disclosed.
Do the Family Members Face Challenges in the Village?
Marie, a real-life lawyer, witnesses a lady being beaten by her husband while the family searches for the other werewolf. Infuriated, she steps in and demonstrates to the villagers that she is literate, which was unprecedented in 1497. Even worse, the villagers are shocked when she discusses divorce. As a result, Gilbert’s ancestor and Marie are both taken prisoner and condemned to be burned at the stake.
Jerome devises an additional strategy to save his wife. He plays a song on his lute to divert the attention of the locals long enough for Marie to get away. The family escapes by working together.
After that, Piero tells them to shelter in a chapel where he has constructed a code-protected tunnel. But a werewolf shows up as they are ready to flee.

What Happens During the Final Werewolf Battle?
The sheriff’s wife is revealed to be the werewolf who breaks in. Because of his unique ability as “Cupid,” the sheriff dies along with his wife. This adds to the complexity of the problem.
At this time, Loulou turns after her headphones, which had been keeping her from becoming a werewolf, run out of power. In order to help Loulou remember who she truly is, Jerome and Marie sang to her. The older werewolf overwhelms her despite her attempts to fight it.
Marie’s love for her daughter gives her the strength to discover her witchcraft abilities just when it looks like there is no hope left. She transforms Loulou back into a human after vanquishing the older werewolf. The game is ready to end when the family’s cards appear in their hands.
What Is the Movie’s Ending About?
Ultimately, the family bids farewell to Piero—who turns out to be Leonardo da Vinci—and Gilbert’s ancestor! Piero’s future fame is hinted at when Jerome tells the family to buy anything he paints.
The family returns to the present and puts their cards back into the game. Once more, Gilbert’s memory loss is severe. His memories of werewolves and knights make him wonder whether he’s going crazy, but the family reassures him.
Gilbert gives Jerome a letter from 1497 in which he expresses gratitude for letting him return to being “normal,” even if only briefly. Piero’s love for Jerome causes the Mona Lisa to take on his appearance as the film comes to a funny conclusion.
In the end, “Family Pack” is a film about family ties. It takes a catastrophe to unite the family, as each member is preoccupied with their problems. Like in real life, the film demonstrates how the distinct strengths of each family member help to solve difficulties. It also highlights how families can become stronger and closer by listening to one another.
